Youth & Community Sessional Team Leader
What does the job entail?
Our aim is for all our young people to have ambition for themselves, to be confident individuals, effective contributors, successful learners and responsible citizens; and to be nurtured, safe, active, healthy, achieving, included, respected and responsible in their communities. We want to encourage young people to connect creatively with their community and learn how to become better neighbours through that connection.
As a Sessional Team Leader, you will be working as part of a small team to engage with young people in their own territory, identifying people aged between 10 -19, looking at their needs as they experience them, and providing essential support where possible.
You will be responsible for building a rapport with young people, some of whom are at risk of being vulnerable, connecting and listening, to build trusted relationships, and to find out what issues they are facing, giving support and encouragement.
Providing youth work support, whilst liaising with the police, schools, Family Interventions Services and Child Sexual Exploitation and other relevant agencies for the safeguarding and wellbeing of young people.
Your role will be to promote and inform young people of other opportunities that are available for them to access, such as services, groups, local events and support services.
To prioritise and manage your workload effectively and realistically within the contracted hours of the post.
It is expected that the provision will evolve to meet the changing needs of young people and a dynamic, motivating individual is needed to enable this.
Initially, this position will cover Team Leader sessions across Mendip and South Somerset and hours will vary according to the needs of the service.
You will need to have a Level 3 qualification in youth work or the equivalent or relevant youth work experience
