An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Subject Leader in Education (UK and China) to join our vibrant, collaborative, creative academic community in the School of Education and lead on all aspects of our external collaborations and partnerships with international partners.

About the Role

As part of the School of Education’s leadership team, the post holder will oversee and contribute to awards delivered by BSU partners, including HUHST (Hunan University of Humanities, Science and Technology) in China, provide support to a team of Link Tutors and work with other Subject Leaders to share the line management and development of academic staff in the School. The post holder will also contribute to co-ordinating Bath based Undergraduate awards in Education, leading enhancements to the student experience and managing change within the subject area. Working closely with the Head of School, Head of Taught Provision and other Subject Leaders in the School of Education, the post holder will play a significant role in the success of the School, leading on the development and delivery of a new and existing applied curriculum, and making this visible externally. This role is designed to also support the School in extending and enhancing collaborative working with a range of external organisations.

About You

Essential criteria:

  • A postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline or relevant industry experience
  • Successful learning and teaching experience in Higher Education in the subject or a related discipline
  • Successful academic management experience
  • A good command of the quality assurance landscape (student satisfaction, performance indicators, subject benchmarking, qualification frameworks, QAA codes of practice, etc.)
  • Good ICT skills including the use of VLEs

Desirable criteria:

  • PhD or EdD in relevant discipline
  • Experience of teaching in non-UK based contexts
  • Fellowship or Senior Fellowship of the HEA
  • A thorough understanding of the wider HE environment and the policies and imperatives that shape it

Additional Information

Salary Grade - Starting from £58,226 rising to £61,760 per annum. The salary range shows the potential maximum pay progression in addition to any annual inflationary increase to your pay. Please note that our default position is to appoint into the lower end of the range, unless there are exceptional circumstances.
