About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable individual with professional experience in 2D fashion design to join our collegial team and to help shape our expanding Fashion Design provision. The course offers a forward‑thinking design education, nurturing ambitious and dedicated students as they prepare for careers in the fashion industry.
This is a part‑time 0.8 role.
Responsibilities
You will contribute your expertise to deliver and further develop a range of modules on our BA (Hons) Fashion Design course, and will also contribute to learning and teaching across the wider Subject Area of Fashion within Bath School of Design, where appropriate.
Ideally, you will have specialist expertise in 2D fashion design, incorporating both analogue and digital processes, and recent industry experience. The successful applicant will be expected to support students in developing a critical understanding of the broader context of contemporary fashion design, while delivering core practical skills essential to the discipline.
You will play an important role in developing the knowledge and skills of our undergraduate and postgraduate students, work as part of the wider Bath School of Design team to provide professional mentorship, deliver robust assessment, appropriate student support, and overall maintain a high level of learning and teaching supported by industry‑informed expertise. Additional duties include assisting the Head of School and the School Senior Leadership team in enhancing the school’s curriculum portfolio, furthering relationships with employers and other relevant external parties, and more broadly pursuing opportunities to enhance the student experience.

Additional Information
Grade Ac3S/Ac3A Lecturer Ac3S- Starting salary from £35,796 rising to £37,911 per annum, pro rata £44,746 – £47,389. Senior Lecturer Ac3A – Starting salary from £39,058 rising to £45,225 per annum, pro rata £48,823 rising to £56,536.
The salary range shows the potential maximum pay progression in addition to any annual inflationary increase to your pay. Please note that our default position is to appoint into the lower end of the range, unless there are exceptional circumstances.
Regrettably, as the salary for the Lecturer Ac3S role falls beneath the UK’s sponsorship threshold, you will not be eligible for sponsorship; therefore your application will automatically be rejected.
Special Conditions
- Lecturer – Applicants with less than five years teaching experience in Higher Education of at least 0.8 FTE or equivalent who do not hold a Teaching and Learning in Higher Education Certificate accredited by the Higher Education Academy (HEA) or HEA fellowship will be required to complete an approved Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education course during the first two years of employment.
- Senior Lecturer – Applicants with more than five years teaching experience in Higher Education of at least 0.8 FTE or equivalent who do not hold a Teaching and Learning in Higher Education Certificate accredited by the Higher Education Academy (HEA) or HEA fellowship will be required to accredit their practice through the HEA fellowship application process during their 6‑month probation period.
