About the Role: Creative Technologists express creativity through engaging and innovative experiences, using the latest technologies and advancements. The Graduate Creative Technologist will work alongside members of academic staff to advance the progressive use of technologies in the School of Design and across creative subjects in other schools. Work will include research into new technologies, development of prototypes and learning materials based on these technologies, supporting student and staff projects, and authoring reports and presentations evaluating various services, tools and technologies that Computing programmes could invest in. Over time, graduates take on greater autonomy to plan and run projects, and to contribute in varying capacities where value can be added, as well as propose new projects and activities. The graduate will also be a key junior associate in the newly created Centre for Creative Technology (CCT) within the School of Design, where they will work collaboratively and autonomously on a range of projects sourced from industry, research grants and in response to developments in the wider technology sector. (This is an 18 Month Full Time Fixed Term Role)
About You: The ideal candidate for Graduate Creative Technologist will have a strong and balanced blend of computing, creative and problem-solving skills. It starts with excellent critical thinking and analysis skills, enabling a deep understanding of the problems to be solved, before reaching conclusions on the solutions or approaches. You will be able to work well with other people from different backgrounds and at different levels. You are also self‑motivated, able to set your own tasks and manage them to timely completion when working independently. You can communicate clearly and effectively, and capable of organising information to meet the needs of your audience. Likewise, you are responsive to new information, and welcome direction and feedback that helps you learn and grow. Technical competence and skills are a strength, focused in particular around modern technologies used to plan, design and express creativity. Skills will include but are not limited to development of websites, application software, graphics and audio. You will also have perseverance and adaptability, able to readily learn new tools and technologies as different needs emerge with each new project.
