We are seeking a talented Financial Accounts Assistant who will support our Financial Accountant with our statutory reporting, taxation compliance and treasury functions. You will help maintain a robust balance sheet control environment, particularly focusing on Fixed Asset and Treasury Reporting.
About the Role
You will be a detail-oriented finance professional to support the compilation of the University's Annual Financial Statements and assist throughout the external financial audit. The role involves completing monthly balance sheet reconciliations, supporting internal management reporting, and preparing daily and monthly cash and treasury reports. You will have full responsibility for maintaining fixed asset records and reporting, assist with Corporation Tax and quarterly VAT returns, and support the administration of the University's insurance arrangements. A key part of the role is contributing to the ongoing review and improvement of financial processes.
About You
- Studying towards or holding AAT or equivalent qualification
- Ability to work accurately to tight deadlines
- Good team player
- Previous experience of working in a university
- Advanced excel knowledge – pivot tables etc
- Experience of month end and year end reconciliations
- Experience of financial audits
- Previous experience in a similar role
- Familiarity with Fixed Assets
Additional Information
Salary Grade 5 - Starting from £29,588 rising to £33,002 per annum. The salary range shows the potential maximum pay progression in addition to any annual inflationary increase to your pay. Please note that our default position is to appoint into the lower end of the range, unless there are exceptional circumstances.
Study support will be offered. Hybrid position – you will be expected to come to our Newton Park campus 2 days a week. Please note that as of April 2024, there has been a change in the UK's sponsorship threshold. Regrettably as the salary for this role falls beneath this, you will not be eligible for sponsorship therefore your application will automatically be rejected.
