An exciting opportunity has arisen for two Teaching Fellows in Initial Teacher Education to join our vibrant, creative academic community in the School of Education. Each post holder will be responsible for contributing to the teaching and learning of the Primary Initial Teacher Education programmes and will carry out the role of Academic Tutor to assess and support Bath Spa Teachers in university and on placement.

About the Role

To undertake teaching, assessment, academic tutoring and administration associated with the delivery of BA Primary Education (5-11) with QTS programme. Working closely with Programme Directors and Programme Leaders, the post holder will contribute to the success of the School in the delivery of ITE Partnership Curriculum (Primary), enhancements to Bath Spa Teachers’ (BST) experience, student recruitment, and contribution to the mentor leadership team. The post holder must have subject specialism and experience to support trainees’ understanding of how children progress within the Early Years Foundation Stage, KS1 and KS2. Experience and interest in the teaching of primary science and/or primary PE would be beneficial. The post holder’s role as an Academic Tutor contributing to BA Primary Education (5-11) with QTS will involve supporting and assessing trainees in their academic award and professional recommendation of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

About You

  • A good first degree in a relevant discipline and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Successful experience of primary teaching
  • In-depth subject knowledge of learning pedagogy and practice in the field of primary education
  • Excellent interpersonal, networking, communication and IT skills
  • Knowledge of the standards and requirements for Initial Teacher Education
  • Successful experience of teaching primary science and/or primary PE
  • Successful experience of mentoring trainee teachers or ECTs, with an understanding of their developmental support needs as they progress
  • Experience of working with ITE trainees or in Higher Education
  • Awareness of issues in learning and teaching in Initial Teacher Education and HE

Additional Information

Salary Grade Ac2 - Starting from £38,784 rising to £43,482 per annum. The salary range shows the potential maximum pay progression in addition to any annual inflationary increase to your pay. Please note that our default position is to appoint into the lower end of the range, unless there are exceptional circumstances. This post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring service check.
