We’re seeking an artist educator to design and deliver inspiring art and design workshops for our National Saturday Club at Bath Spa University, nurturing young people’s creative skills, confidence and aspirations through to national events including masterclasses and the Summer Show exhibition. You will create an inclusive, supportive environment where 13–16-year-olds feel empowered to explore their creativity. (This is a part-time Fixed Term Contract 20 days from March 1 to July 31.)

About the Role

You will lead Saturday art and design workshops for young people aged 13–16. You’ll plan and deliver engaging sessions across a range of disciplines, creating a safe, inclusive and inspiring environment where young people feel confident to express themselves. Working closely with Locksbrook Campus exhibitions, visiting artists, local schools and community partners, you’ll help enrich learning, support recruitment and connect the Saturday Club to wider Bath Spa University activities. The role involves preparing resources, maintaining attendance and progression records, communicating with parents/guardians, and contributing to promotion, evaluation and the National Saturday Club network.

About You

  • A practicing artist, designer or creative practitioner with a strong portfolio of work and a genuine passion for learning with and through art.
  • Understanding of contemporary art and design practices and the ability to make these accessible.
  • Ability to plan and deliver engaging creative sessions that develop skills and confidence.
  • Excellent facilitation skills that encourage creativity, risk-taking and collaborative learning.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) appropriate for engaging with young people, parents and partners.
  • Ability to design creative projects that are conceptually rich yet practically achievable within time and resource constraints.
  • Practical knowledge of a range of art and design materials, techniques and processes.
  • Experience working in gallery education or community arts settings.
  • Experience of working in a Higher Education setting.
  • Passionate about learning with and through art, viewing artistic practice and education as interconnected and mutually enriching.

Additional Information

Salary Grade 6 – £17.60 per hour. This is a Part Time, Fixed Term Contract role. Working 20 days from 1 March to 31 July 2026. This role requires regular Saturday working during term time. Occasional additional commitments may include evening events, national masterclasses, and the Summer Show exhibition. The role is subject to an enhanced DBS check. Interviews will be expected to be in the afternoon of 18 February 2026. Due to the nature of this post we cannot accept applications that do not have the Right to Work/Live in the UK; applications may be rejected if this is not met.
