About the Role
- Carry out planned and reactive electrical maintenance across University properties.
- Undertake electrical testing and inspection in accordance with BS7671 requirements.
- Maintain and test emergency lighting, fire alarm and generator systems.
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults, control systems, motors, pumps and HVAC-related equipment.
- Carry out electrical installations, modifications and upgrades.
- Support the operation and maintenance of the University's electrical distribution infrastructure.
- Assist with Portable Appliance Testing (PAT).
- Supervise and coordinate specialist contractors working on University sites.
- Support colleagues by sharing technical knowledge and best practice.
- Respond promptly to breakdowns and emergencies to minimise disruption.
- Ensure all works are completed in accordance with health and safety requirements and safe systems of work.
- Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with University stakeholders regarding maintenance activities.
About You
- Qualifications in an Electrical discipline, preferably through a trade Apprenticeship through to BTEC ONC/OND level.
- Significant experience of testing fixed electrical installations
- Significant recent experience working in a maintenance environment.
- Experience of HV systems.
- Experience of mechanical maintenance.
- Experience of operating and maintaining a full Building Management System
