We are currently seeking an Admissions and Applicant Enquiry Officer to join our team. This is an exciting key role where you will be supporting our applicants through the journey to becoming a BSU student. You will lead on managing our enquiries inbox, providing key and accurate information to enquirers, as well as completing all aspects of the admissions process for a portfolio of programmes, including monitoring recruitment targets, arranging visits and interviews, assessing qualifications, making decisions on student applications and communicating with applicants.

Within the role you will manage the admissions and registration process, ensuring accurate documentation and timely application processing in line with university policies. The role involves providing professional advice and guidance to applicants, prospective students, agents, partners and staff, responding to enquiries efficiently, maintaining accurate course and entry requirement information, representing the University at recruitment events and open days, and working collaboratively with Schools and Professional Services to deliver an excellent applicant experience and achieve recruitment objectives.

About You

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work as an effective member of the team
  • Ability to plan, organise and prioritise effectively
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
  • Experience of Registry (or similar) procedures and administration in a medium to large organisation
  • Experience of working with a range of people
  • Proactive attitude to work

Additional Information

Salary Grade 5 - Starting from £29,588 rising to £33,002 per annum. The salary range shows the potential maximum pay progression in addition to any annual inflationary increase to your pay. Please note that our default position is to appoint into the lower end of the range, unless there are exceptional circumstances.

Some out of hours working will be occasionally required, including some evenings and specific weekends during the academic year (Graduation, Registration, Confirmation & Clearing). Opportunities for taking annual leave during the months of August and September will be limited, and leave at other times will need to be assessed across the team so that service provision is not impacted.

Please note that as of April 2024, there has been a change in the UK’s sponsorship threshold. Regrettably as the salary for this role falls beneath this, you will not be eligible for sponsorship therefore your application will automatically be rejected.

Staff Benefits

We offer a wide range of great benefits at BSU, including:

  • Generous pension scheme (Local Government Pension Scheme/Teacher's Pension Scheme).
  • Enhanced paid leave - 41 - 46 days depending on the role (Full Time).
  • Family friendly policies including hybrid working, flexible work environment, on-site nursery, and a sector-leading enhanced maternity scheme.
  • Employee Assistance Programme which offers access to on-demand GP appointments, wellbeing support and advice, and access to counselling.
  • Transport schemes including Electric Vehicle Scheme and Cycle to Work.
  • Wide range of discounts and financial benefits, accessed through an easy-to-use app.

We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive sufficient applications for the role. Therefore, if you are interested, please submit your application as early as possible.
