We\’re looking for a strategic, values-driven leader to join our Senior Management Team as Head of Representation & Partnerships at an incredibly exciting time in our journey. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this role is central to ensuring student voice is embedded in everything we do.
Over the past three years we have developed an impactful fresh approach to representation, empowering grassroots engagement through a network of Student Community Leaders to prioritise the creation of a sense of belonging. Following an extensive democratic review, we are now taking this further, with plans for an innovative new role for the Union to develop a quality assurance approach across academic partnerships and fresh thinking about empowering student voices and shaping democratic accountability.
With over 30,000 members in Bath, London and beyond we need to ensure the Union is inclusive and ensure all those voices are heard. This is a unique opportunity for a creative leader to shape our future and bring fresh perspectives to the challenges of a modern, dispersed model of HE.
We are looking for a natural leader who understands relationship management, is passionate about empowering student voice and ready to lead a talented team, support elected student officers, and work closely with the University and external partners to shape inclusive, impactful student experiences.
On a day-to-day basis, you will be supporting and mentoring our elected student officers, as well as demonstrating excellent leadership skills by empowering your team to coordinate democratic engagement activities and provide vital support and advice to students. You’ll be using student feedback and impact data reports to improve understanding and awareness across our team, partners and our membership. You’ll also be attending leadership and governance meetings.
You’ll also be contributing to the Union and University strategic ambitions, leading our work on TEF and APP to ensure student voices are truly at the heart of decision-making. To do this you’ll be working across various teams including our Senior Management Team, University leadership as well as other departments and partner organisations.
Requirements and Qualifications
We value a wide range of experiences and perspectives. Valuable assets include strategic and creative thinking and collaborative leadership, experience in representation, democracy, or advice services.
You’ll demonstrate a passion for equity, inclusion, and student empowerment, with strong communication and project management skills.
You should have experience in relevant fields (e.g., representation, democracy, advice), or empowering marginalised or underrepresented voices.
Formal qualifications are desirable but not essential. We actively encourage applications from individuals with lived experience or non-traditional career paths. If you meet the core criteria and are passionate about student voice and inclusion, we want to hear from you.
This role requires the successful candidate to undertake a basic DBS check.
