CORE PURPOSE
Deliver high-quality performance analysis across the Academy Pathway and University of Bath partnership, turning video, data and performance evidence into clear, actionable insight that supports player development and coach decision‑making.
Take day‑to‑day ownership of analysis provision within the University partnership, building effective stakeholder relationships and recruiting, coordinating and developing student interns to support high‑quality, sustainable delivery.
- CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analysis Planning & Provision
- Deliver and support filming and post‑match analysis across agreed Academy Pathway groups and partnership environments, in line with priorities established by Academy leadership.
- Support the planning and delivery of video capture and analysis for agreed training sessions, fixtures, festivals and development events.
- Acquire, code, organise and share available footage from agreed Loan Club, partner and age‑grade international fixtures involving identified Academy players.
- Coordinate analysis activity across agreed delivery environments, ensuring outputs are timely, well organised and aligned with Academy priorities.
- Performance Insight & Feedback
- Development principles, providing clear and actionable technical and tactical insight.
- Work with coaches to establish clear analysis priorities, feedback objectives, key messages and review timelines.
- Provide coaches and identified players with targeted performance statistics, organised video clips and timely feedback to inform IDPs and player development.
- Support identified players to develop effective self‑analysis and reflection skills, using video and performance evidence to increase ownership of their development.
- Player Development & Decision Support
- Provide relevant analysis evidence and insight to support Multi‑Disciplinary Team (MDT) and case‑conference discussions and aligned, individualised player‑development strategies.
- Track agreed individual and positional development priorities over time, using relevant performance evidence to highlight progress, recurring trends and areas for further development.
- Provide relevant performance evidence to support talent identification and transition discussions, as requested by Academy leadership.
- Systems, Technology & Continuous Improvement
- Contribute ideas and feedback to the ongoing development of analysis methods, feedback approaches, workflows and technology, helping improve player engagement, analysis quality and delivery efficiency.
- Maintain accurate and well‑organised footage libraries and player‑analysis databases, and support the day‑to‑day administration of approved analysis platforms.
- Seek and respond to feedback from coaches and players to improve the relevance, clarity and effectiveness of analysis outputs.
- Support consistent and efficient analysis workflows across Academy and partnership environments.
- Partnership Leadership & Intern Coordination
- Act as the lead day‑to‑day analysis contact within the University of Bath partnership, building effective working relationships with relevant University and Academy staff.
- Coordinate agreed analysis provision across the partnership, ensuring activity is aligned with Academy priorities and delivered to appropriate standards.
- Work with relevant University contacts to identify, attract and recruit suitable student interns to support agreed analysis activity.
- Coordinate intern onboarding, task allocation and day‑to‑day deployment, establishing clear expectations, workflows and quality standards for their contributions.
- Provide practical guidance, regular feedback and development support to interns, helping them build relevant technical and professional skills and sustain effective engagement.
- Coordinate continuity of the intern programme across academic cycles through forward planning, recruitment and effective handover processes.
- Communicate clearly with Academy leadership regarding partnership activity, delivery priorities, intern capacity and any significant delivery concerns.
- Work collaboratively with coaches, analysts, performance staff and University stakeholders to ensure analysis activity is connected, purposeful and supports wider player‑development priorities.
- CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
Essential
- Practical experience delivering performance analysis within rugby or another relevant performance team‑sport environment.
- Strong technical capability in video capture, coding and performance‑analysis platforms, including Hudl Sportscode or demonstrably equivalent systems.
- Ability to interpret video, data and performance evidence and translate findings into clear, relevant and actionable insight for coaches and developing players.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver accurate, timely outputs across multiple teams and environments.
- Ability to work collaboratively within coaching, performance and Multi‑Disciplinary Team (MDT) environments.
- Experience producing clear performance reports and/or data visualisations appropriate to the intended audience.
- High standards of accuracy, confidentiality and professional judgement when handling player information and performance footage.
- Ability to coordinate and support the work of others, providing clear direction, constructive feedback and appropriate quality oversight.
- Ability and willingness to work evenings, weekends and match days, and to travel between delivery sites as required.
