Youth Connect South West is a young people\’s charity working in Bath and North East Somerset and the surrounding area. We support young people to enjoy today, prepare for tomorrow and become the people they want to be.

The Targeted Support Programme is commissioned by Bath and North East Somerset Council (B&NES) to provide support and interventions that will engage vulnerable young people to help them develop resilience, improve emotional and mental wellbeing and make a positive difference to their lives and to their communities, in accordance with the B&NES Early Help Strategy. This role is to engage with the NEET cohort in B&NES and provide tailored support, guidance, and outreach to NEET young people aged 16-19 (up to 25 with an EHCP), helping them to overcome barriers and progress into education, employment, or training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage NEET young people (16-19) through outreach, referrals and drop-ins, building trust and participation.
  • Assess needs, strengths and aspirations to create and review personalised action plans with clear goals.
  • Provide targeted interventions, careers advice and practical support to help young people access education, training or employment.
  • Support attendance at positive activities, events and appointments.
  • Manage a caseload effectively, maintaining accurate records on progress and destinations.
  • Build strong links with local employers, community groups and services to expand opportunities.
  • Contribute to the local NEET Network and evaluate the impact of support provided with young people.

Qualifications And Experience

  • English and Maths Level 2 or GCSE C/4 and above.
  • Level 3 Information, Advice and Guidance qualification or Level 3 Youth Work qualification / Educated to Level 3 with relevant experience of supporting Young People.
  • Up-to-date safeguarding training.
  • Direct work with young people to promote their access into and participation in suitable education, training and employment.
