Join to apply for the Seasonal Grounds Maintenance Operative role at Bath & North East Somerset Council. Contract Type: Agency/Temporary (with potential for permanent if there are vacancies). This opportunity is for seasonal grounds staff. The work is generally from March to October and is weather dependent, so could be for a shorter or longer period.
We are proud of the in-house services that we operate in keeping our neighbourhoods clean and our green spaces looking great. Our Environmental Services team works hard collecting recyclables & rubbish, cleaning our streets; they also tend to our beautiful parks, open spaces and our cemeteries and crematorium.

Based at Royal Victoria Park Bath, Station Road Keynsham or Radstock Road depot. Enhancements are paid for weekend and Bank Holiday working.
The primary purpose of this post is to assist the team leader with the day-to-day running and development of the team in accordance with the Council’s Vision and Values, policy, and other objectives, to achieve maximum effectiveness and efficiency.
Key Duties:- Planting, pruning, seeding
- Hedge trimming
- Grass cutting parks, open spaces & verges
- Strimming, leaf blowing, raking
- Setting out and marking sports areas
- Upkeep of pitches (artificial and natural)
- Propagation and nursery care of plants
- Site preparation
- Manual litter picking and sweeping
- Emptying litter & recycling bins, and replacing liners
- Using electronic mobile devices to record work & log any issues
- Resolving any complaints as directed by managers
