Are you an experienced, qualified Counsellor or Psychologist who is passionate about early relational experiences? Are you interested in providing evidence-based counselling psychology services to parents affected by their own Adverse Childhood Experiences and which is impacting on their early relational and parenting experience?
We are looking for a part-time Qualified Counselling Psychologist to contribute to the ongoing development and provision of a Relational Trauma Counselling service in Bath and North East Somerset’s Bright Start Children and Family Centre Services.
You will join a highly motivated and dynamic team, managed by Children & Family Centre Service Manager with extensive experience working within the field of Family Support and perinatal mental health. As well as holding a small caseload, you will be responsible for the assessment of referred clients and overseeing their case management. You will also be responsible for supporting the recruitment of Counselling / Psychotherapy students, overseeing their service provision and placement and providing general (ideally clinical) supervision.
You will be based in a Children’s Centre closest to your home address but have a willingness and ability to travel across the service-delivery area.
Our Relational Trauma Counsellor Lead Role Requires You To

  • Deliver successful therapeutic interventions
  • Manage your own caseload, which will include parents affected by their own ACEs
  • Provide specialist psychological assessments, interpretation and integration of complex data
  • Contribute to the local networks and stakeholders to raise the profile of the service and Bright Start Children’s Centre Services

To be successful as the Relational Trauma Counsellor, you will need:

  • To be a fully qualified BACP/UKCP/HCPC registered practitioner working to Person-Centred principles, with a proven commitment to working within their professional Ethical Framework for Good Practice as defined by their registered body
  • Experience in working with recipients of therapeutic counselling services for parents affected by ACEs
  • Experience in line managing or supervising staff and / or student (Desirable)
  • To have very strong organisational skills to manage and prioritise your work effectively and in a timely way and will be committed to working as part of a team to support colleagues in delivering optimum services to children and families
