Fixed Term Contract until end of February 2028 (18-month contract with possibility of extension). Bath & North East Somerset Council is looking for a Social Media and Campaign Officer to lead on content creation and campaigns. The role will primarily focus on campaigns such as Bath Christmas Market, City Centre Transformation, City Region Sustainable Transport Settlements (CRSTS), Events, Parks and Film Office.
About the Role
Reporting to the Digital Marketing Manager, this role will play a key part in implementing the council’s marketing and campaign strategy with a particular focus on key campaigns across the Sustainable Communities directorate. The role involves digital content creation, storytelling, social media, and email marketing.
Your Role Will
- Lead on digital content creation across social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube and NextDoor
- Plan and execute communications and marketing campaigns such as Bath Christmas Market and sustainable transport schemes
- Support colleagues with community engagement and consultations on key projects
- Work with colleagues across corporate communications to identify opportunities for digital storytelling
- Write news releases for key project updates
- Develop the council’s paid, earned and owned media strategy alongside the Digital Marketing Manager
- Support the Digital Marketing Manager with campaign strategy, contributing ideas and assessing campaign success
- Develop targeted email marketing campaigns and contribute to the B&NES weekly newsletter
- Update website content and maintain the day‑to‑day running of websites and webpages across the council’s digital portfolio
- Present insights and analytics for campaigns, tracking ROI and campaign effectiveness against agreed objectives and KPIs
About You
This role is ideal for a digitally‑savvy marketer with a keen interest in storytelling. You should be a strong communicator who is comfortable planning, filming and editing content for a range of audiences. The role may require travel around the district and occasional weekend or evening work.
Proven track record of managing social media campaigns
Short‑form video content creation
Experience managing a website, including a working knowledge of HTML
The ability to use data to inform the best approach to campaign management
Confidence working with external stakeholders and agencies to communicate key messages
