Make a Difference in Your Community

Are you passionate about the environment and want to play a key role in helping your community recycle more and waste less? Bath & North East Somerset Council is looking for enthusiastic and proactive individuals to join our frontline team as Recycling Advisors at our Household Waste & Recycling Centre’s. We operate three recycling centres in our county, this position will require the successful candidate to be flexible and work on any of these three sites.

Competitive Salary plus: 2 extra hours per week at £13.69/hour, 1 Saturday per month with a 27% enhancement, 1 Sunday per month with a 50% enhancement. Hours: 37 plus contractual overtime as above.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Assisting members of the public to dispose of waste safely and correctly.
  • Promoting recycling and composting through direct engagement.
  • Sorting waste into appropriate containers to maximize recycling.
  • Keeping the site clean, safe, and compliant with health and safety standards.
  • Operating electronic permit and booking systems.
  • Supporting the wider waste and recycling service as needed.

What We’re Looking For:

Essential:

  • Basic Math’s & English.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A commitment to recycling and environmental responsibility.
  • Ability to work under pressure and use initiative.

Desirable:

  • Driving license.
  • First aid and manual handling training.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Knowledge of recycling practices.

Working Conditions:

  • Outdoor work in all weather conditions.
  • Physical labor including lifting, sorting, and sweeping.
  • Rostered shifts including weekends and bank holidays.
