About the Role
At Bath & North East Somerset Council we have one overriding purpose to improve people’s lives. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Operational Manager to work with Bath and North East Somerset (B&NES) Youth Justice Service (YJS). The YJS is a multi‑agency team working to prevent offending and re‑offending by children. The Service includes staff from a range of backgrounds including Police, Health, Social Care, Education and Probation.
The functions of the YJS include:
- Working with children to prevent offending
- Supervising children on a voluntary and conditional basis, subject to Court Orders and Out of Court Resolutions, both in the community and occasionally in custody
- Involving interventions with parents and families
The YJS works to give victims a voice, enables children to re‑pay the harm they have caused to the community and strengthens parenting skills. The operational manager role leads the operational work of the Youth Justice Service including Out of Court Resolutions, Court Work, Community Orders, Custody and Bail and Remand.
About You
We are looking for an individual who has substantial experience working in a youth justice setting, a recognised professional qualification, as stated in the Addendum Role Profile and someone who aligns with the approaches outlined above. B&NES YJS is committed to having a diverse and inclusive workforce for staff and volunteers.
