We are seeking an experienced ERPx Implementation Specialist to play a pivotal role in delivering the Council's new Unit4 ERPx financial management system. You will lead on best practice configuration, provide expert advice and technical guidance, and coordinate configuration and process design across key financial workstreams including: General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Sales & Subscriptions, Projects, Contract Management, Procurement and Integrations. Aligned to the Expertise & Service Lead III profile, you will act as one of the Council's lead professionals, influencing senior leaders, shaping financial transformation, and ensuring high quality, compliant, and modernised financial processes.
Role Purpose: To facilitate the delivery of professional and technical expertise across a broad specialist area, ensuring Council projects and services - particularly the implementation of ERPx - are delivered in accordance with legislation, policy, and best practice.
Responsibilities
- ERPx Implementation Leadership: Provide expert guidance on Unit4 ERPx configuration, ensuring alignment with standard processes and B&NES requirements. Facilitate design workshops, engage with stakeholders, and document decisions to support implementation progress.
- Financial Workstream Delivery: Facilitate configuration and process design across: General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Sales & Subscriptions, Projects, Contract Management, Procurement. Coordinate dependencies, identify risks and deliver effective mitigation strategies.
- Programme & Governance: Support programme governance by contributing to planning, RAID management, reporting and decision tracking. Serve as a key liaison between the Council and Unit4/implementation partners.
- Data, Testing & Readiness: Contribute to Chart of Accounts design, data migration cycles, validation and reconciliation. Support and coordinate IST, UAT, and go live readiness, ensuring clear documentation and traceability.
- Change & Adoption: Conduct impact assessments, develop process documentation, and support training and change activity to enable successful adoption of ERPx.
- Compliance & Assurance: Monitor and interpret financial policies, legislation, and audit requirements; ensure delivered solutions meet governance, security, and legislative standards.
- Continuous Improvement: Recommend and support delivery of service improvements, evaluating emerging Council and sector trends to inform strategic planning.
Deep understanding of Unit4 ERP & ERPx, including specialist configuration knowledge. Strong experience across financial modules: GL, AR, AP, Fixed Assets, Projects (PCB), Project Accounting. Experience working within Local Government financial processes. Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead multi-disciplinary workstreams. Understanding of legislation, best practice and compliance impacting financial systems. Degree in a relevant subject or equivalent experience. Strong analytical, communication and problem solving skills. Commercial and financial acuity.
Desirable
- Experience of working with Success4U Implementation Packages.
- Project or change management certifications (e.g. PRINCE2, Agile, APM).
- Familiarity with ERPx integrations, APIs, and Azure DevOps for test/release management.
- Professional membership (e.g., CIPFA, ACCA, CIMA) advantageous.
