Overview
Bath & North East Somerset Council has one overriding purpose to improve people’s lives. This post attracts a welcome payment of 5% of the starting salary for the grade to enable individuals to join our permanent workforce. This is payable upon successful completion of your probationary period and is subject to eligibility criteria. We are looking for a Care Assistant to be based in one of our Extra Care Services at Hawthorn Court on a part time basis. This permanent role is for 17.5 hours per week and involves a rota system which will involve working late shifts from 5pm to 10pm. You also will be working every other weekend with some bank holidays. We provide additional pay enhancements for all roles, applicable to shifts worked during weekends, nights, and bank holidays. The Hawthorn Court offers a vibrant community atmosphere which is in Keynsham, and this is easily accessible via public transport or car.
What is Extra Care? Extra Care Housing is for adults, who have some care needs, with an assured tenancy in a self-contained flat in a purpose-built or adapted scheme. Our Extra care housing services have been rated ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in June 2022.
Responsibilities
- Assist tenants with personal care activities such as washing, personal hygiene and dressing.
- Promote tenants’ independence, choice, dignity, and respect by delivering the best standards of care.
- Adhere to and complete accurate and timely records of the care and support provided to tenants.
- Provide support to access third party and NHS services.
- Be a strong team player and work on own initiative when needed.
- Promote lifestyle choice, offering individuals the opportunity and motivation to retain independence and stay in control of their lives.
About You
Previous experience of working in care would be an advantage, but a commitment to deliver quality care is essential and full training will be provided.
