We wish to recruit a dynamic person with knowledge and experience in the field of Inclusion and SEND, who shares our passion for helping children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) to achieve their full social and academic potential. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Inclusion and SEND Advice Service, providing support across B&NES’ education settings.
We are looking for someone with experience working with children and young people across age ranges: Early Years Foundation Stage (Early Years Settings / Year Reception) and/or Key Stage 1 & 2 and/or Key Stage 3 & 4 and/or Post 16.
About the role:
- The service offers first line support for B&NES’ settings, from early years to FE College, as part of the Inclusion and SEND Support Offer.
- The Inclusion and SEND Advisory Practitioner will provide signposting and support to settings to meet SEND needs at the earliest possible opportunity.
- You will model support for children and young people alongside setting staff, support delivery of training and continuing professional development, and, under the guidance of the Lead Inclusion and SEND Advisors, make recommendations to settings for the timely provision of support.
- The role requires the ability to support settings’ inclusive approaches for children and young people with SEND and those at risk of placement breakdown, and to assist practitioners in recognising potential unmet needs and developing effective local inclusive practice through the graduated approach (Assess, Plan, Do, Review).
About you:
- Minimum of NVQ Level 4, or other equivalent qualification with at least 2 years’ experience in a role related to Special Educational Needs.
- Experience working with children and young people who have SEND.
- Knowledge of SEND legislation and procedures.
- Presentation / training delivery skills.
- IT literate with proven ability to use a database and word processing skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Organisational skills and an ability to work on own initiative.
- Analytical skills.
- Dynamic and forward thinking.
