We are seeking an experienced Countryside Ranger to help deliver our ambition to manage 30% of our Estate for Nature by 2030, as part of our efforts to recover nature across Bath and North East Somerset.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver and coordinate practical conservation tasks and habitat management within parks and green spaces across BANES.
- Organise and lead practical volunteering sessions and coordinate work with contractors.
- Work with existing volunteer and ‘friends of’ groups to identify and deliver new activities that support habitat management plans.
- Establish and lead new volunteering or ‘friends of’ groups where needed.
- Collaborate with the Climate and Environment Team and the Land Management Advisor to develop and implement work programmes that meet habitat management plans and stewardship agreements.
- Maintain and install fencing and other public access infrastructure.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Experience in habitat management and use of tools required for conservation activities.
- Experience supervising and working with volunteer groups and contractors.
- Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to work outdoors and manage site-check regimes and subsequent work programmes.
- Familiarity with delivering work against prescriptions outlined in habitat management plans.
Working Conditions
The role is full-time (37 hours per week). Occasionally weekend work may be required, with time off in lieu granted.
