At Bath & North East Somerset Council we have one overriding purpose - to improve people's lives. We are looking for a Bank Domestic Assistant to join our Residential Services Team and work across all 2 residential care homes within Bath and Northeast Somerset Council on a Casual basis. We have two locations based in Bath and Midsomer Norton. We are actively recruiting for our location at Cleeve Court, Twerton, Bath, BA2 1RS.

We provide additional pay enhancements for all roles, applicable to shifts worked during weekends, nights, and bank holidays.

About the Role

Assisting other colleagues in promoting and maintaining a supportive living environment to meet the needs of vulnerable older adults including those with dementia and other cognitive impairments. Carry out domestic tasks which maintain a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness throughout the care home, considering the wishes of service users. This will include:

  • Cleaning bedrooms, bathrooms, and communal areas
  • Making beds
  • Operating cleaning equipment, e.g. vacuum cleaners, steam cleaners
  • Undertake a laundry service for residents and a general laundry service for the care home
  • Sorting and washing laundry
  • Ironing
  • Operating laundry equipment, e.g. washers and dryers, irons
  • Cleaning soft furnishings within the home
  • Keep up-to-date written records

As part of a team, help to develop appropriate and professional relationships with residents and carers, which value them as individuals, including establishing and maintaining effective communication.
