Bath & North East Somerset Council seeks an ambitious Assistant Design Officer to join the multi-disciplinary Regeneration team, based in the Sustainable Economy Service. This career-graded post offers opportunities for progression towards Development Officer, Senior Development Officer, and Principal grades, contingent on the delivery of key milestones. The post will be extended upon successful future funding awards.

The Regeneration team has secured over £26m in project delivery funding in the last four years and is currently advancing a range of regeneration schemes in Bath city centre, local high streets, and nearby towns such as Keynsham, Midsomer Norton, and Radstock.

About The Role

This role involves supporting the team with a focus on design aspects of High Street renewal schemes in Bath city centre and other design projects. You will collaborate closely with other Council service areas and partner organizations to achieve project goals.

Work will include supporting spatial design, graphic design, masterplans, leading small-scale public realm/design projects, and community engagement activities.

About You

You should demonstrate how your knowledge and experience in design, graphics, desktop publishing, and geographical information systems can support the team.

To learn more about the Regeneration team’s projects, Bath & North East Somerset is located between the Cotswold and Mendip areas of outstanding natural beauty. Bath is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, renowned for its thermal springs.

This role offers flexible working arrangements, combining home and office work. Office locations include the Guildhall in Bath, Keynsham Civic Centre/Studio 22 in Bath, and the Hollies in Midsomer Norton. Keynsham Civic Centre is the designated base, with regular site visits in Bath required.
