At Bath & North East Somerset Council we have one overriding purpose – to improve people’s lives. We are looking for an applicant to cover maternity leave. The applicant should be an enthusiastic and reliable Accountant to provide financial support to a variety of Council services. The primary purpose of the post is to make an effective contribution to the Finance Service by providing financial and management accounting support and advice to Council Services. The role will also help the team through a new financial system implementation process.
You will be a ‘people person’, a strong communicator who can easily build effective working relationships with Budget Managers across the organisation. The ability to explain financial information to non-finance colleagues will be important, whilst you will also be analytical in nature. The expectation is that the candidate will be a part qualified accountant and that you will be able to work on site at Keynsham Civic Centre at least one day a week. You will have fundamental Excel skills and be comfortable working with numbers. You will also have strong communication skills and enjoy working in a team but will also be comfortable working on your own to meet deadlines.
Please note, BANES Council operates a policy of prior consideration for roles for any individual on the Council’s at-risk register (redeployee). This means should a redeployee express an interest in this role, providing they meet the essential criteria for the role they will be considered ahead of external applicants.
