The ‘Programme Lead – Teacher Training’ will be responsible for delivering high‑quality teacher training provision across the college. This key role develops teaching practice and pedagogy for staff and aligns with the college’s strategic ambitions and the TLA strategy.
Employment: Permanent – Part Time (29.5 hours per week for 52 weeks per year). Four days per week, including Wednesday and Friday, are required. Salary: Qualified Lecturer Salary L5 and above (P27‑P35): £32,186.70 – £40,015.50 full‑time equivalent.

Key Responsibilities
- Design a range of teacher training programmes (including but not limited to the Bath College Excellent Teacher Training Programme – bespoke extended induction programme, Level 3 Award, Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training and Level 5 Learning and Skills Apprenticeship standard) ensuring the design meets DfE and Ofsted expectations.
- Plan and deliver a high‑quality teacher training offer and series of programmes that reflect and model best practice, utilising cross‑college and external experts where required to enrich the programme.
- Assess and mark trainees’ work, providing high‑quality feedback to ensure continuous improvement. Track trainees’ progress to ensure timely completion, providing support in collaboration with the Quality Team and curriculum managers, and ensuring that assessed work is moderated, standardised and meets awarding body expectations.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- PGCE, Cert Ed, DTTLs or equivalent teaching qualification.
- At least five years’ experience in teaching and/or training roles.
- Experience as an advanced practitioner, coach or mentor.
- Practical experience of classroom management of learners with challenging behaviours.
- The ability to motivate and inspire staff.
- Extensive knowledge of TLA and pedagogy, and of educational research and literature.
