The Specialist Teaching Assistant Lead will provide strategic and operational leadership for the design, delivery, quality assurance and growth of the Specialist Teaching Assistant (STA) apprenticeship programme, while also undertaking teaching, training and assessment of apprentices.
The post holder will ensure the programme reflects best practice in SEND, learning support and inclusive education; meets all apprenticeship, funding and regulatory requirements; and delivers high-quality outcomes for apprentices, employers and other key stakeholders.
Working collaboratively with employers, internal teams and external partners, the post holder will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering a high-quality, responsive apprenticeship provision that strengthens the education and SEND workforce and delivers meaningful impact. Key Responsibilities- Lead the design, development and continual improvement of the Specialist Teaching Assistant apprenticeship programme in line with apprenticeship standards and sector expectations.
- Shape the strategic direction and growth of the programme, ensuring it remains responsive to employer needs, SEND priorities and workforce development demands.
- Work strategically with partner colleges, training providers and other education organisations to co-develop, share and strengthen high-quality across all aspects of this apprenticeship, maximising reach, consistency and impact across the sector.
- Embed inclusive practice, SEND expertise and learning support best practice across all aspects of programme delivery.
- Educated to Level 7 (Master's level) or equivalent, or able to demonstrate substantial and relevant professional experience at a senior level.
- Significant experience within SEND, learning support or inclusive education, ideally within FE, schools or related education settings.
- Generous paid holiday entitlement of 40 days, exclusive of College closure days and public holidays. Pro rata for part time roles.
