Join our luxurious Asian spa at Montigo Resorts Somerset and embark on a transformative Wellness & Holistic Apprenticeship. Learn ancient healing techniques, holistic therapies, and spa rituals in a tranquil, five-star setting. Perfect for those passionate about wellbeing and creating unforgettable guest experiences.

We will review salary after the initial 6 months of working.

Training course: Wellbeing and holistic therapist (level 3).

Hours: 40 hours per week in the hotel; shifts will vary and may include evenings and weekends on a rotation basis.

Duration: 1 year 8 months.

Start date: Monday 27 October 2025.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you’ll do at work

An apprentice at our Asian-inspired spa will immerse themselves in a serene, professional environment focused on wellbeing and guest care.

Typical responsibilities and training include:

  • Assisting senior therapists with traditional Asian wellness treatments such as Thai massage and aromatherapy
  • Supporting wellness rituals, spa preparation, and ensuring treatment rooms maintain a tranquil, high-standard ambience
  • Learning about holistic practices, including mindfulness techniques, and the use of natural products
  • Greeting clients, understanding guest needs, and helping to deliver a personalised, luxurious spa experience
  • Attending structured training sessions on customer service, spa etiquette, and health & safety

Where you’ll work

Training will take place one day per week, term time only, at our City Centre Campus in central Bath.

Qualifications/Responsibilities

  • Complete an in-depth dynamic client profile consultation from which wellbeing therapies and treatment experience schedules are created
  • Communicate verbally with clients to build and maintain trust
  • Obtain, provide and collate accurate and relevant information
  • Conduct allergy, sensitivity and tactile tests to establish suitability for treatment
  • Comply with organisational operations to meet legal, regulatory, licensing and/or local rules, industry requirements, treatment protocols, manufacturers\\\’ instructions and guidance
  • Maintain manual and electronic client records ensuring they are completed, signed, maintained and stored accurately in accordance with legal and organisational operations
  • Apply safe and effective methods of working by maintaining personal hygiene, protection and presentation; maintaining client confidentiality and discretion; positioning the client to meet the needs of the schedule; minimising fatigue and risk of injury; ensuring environmental conditions are suitable; keeping the work area clean; using methods that minimise cross-infection; promoting environmental and sustainable practices; disposal of waste materials to meet legal requirements
  • Prepare the treatment environment to calm or stimulate the multi-sensory perceptions of the body and mind
  • Implement and complete risk assessment protocols related to the environment, therapy or treatment
  • Liaise with colleagues and other practitioners
  • Prepare the client for holistic treatment or experience, maintaining discretion, modesty and privacy
  • Perform and adapt advanced manual therapy techniques to meet client characteristics and treatment objectives
  • Choose massage mediums and aromatherapy essential oils
  • Maintain client comfort and care by checking wellbeing before, during and after treatments
  • Perform wellness and holistic therapy treatments, adapting to client needs (e.g., Indian head massage, lymphatic drainage, acupressure, aromatherapy)
  • Perform and adapt thermal therapy treatments for improving physical and emotional welfare
  • Perform treatments for clients with variable needs, including those with health issues, ensuring consent from multi-disciplinary teams
  • Prepare and select products, tools and equipment for wellbeing therapies
  • Advise on environmental and lifestyle factors affecting resilience
  • Resolve problems during treatments and refer when required
  • Identify, resolve and report operational problems within your scope
  • Provide written post-treatment advice and follow-up care recommendations
  • Evaluate outcomes and refer for further recommendations
  • Meet personal and organisational targets within the agreed timescale and maintain CPD
  • Complete an in-depth client profile consultation and maintain clear client records

GCSEs: English (grade 4/C or above); Maths (grade 4/C or above).

Other: Holistic Therapies or equivalent (grade Pass).
