About the Team
One West is an independent function at Bath & North East Somerset Council who deliver specialist professional services to council officers and services, and to external clients. Due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit a high quality information governance professional to enable our business to grow effectively and increase our levels of customer satisfaction. If you have a passion for data protection, have excellent customer relationship skills, an organised and disciplined approach, enjoy working with other likeminded individuals - as well as being able to work on your own, then we have a role for you!
About the Role
As a Senior Information Governance Officer, you will be responsible for advising council officers and services on data protection matters and supporting our DPO service to a range of commercial clients, including local authorities, multi academy trusts and other private or public sector organisations. Specifically, this will mean:
- Internal Data Protection Team – Advising council officers and services on their obligations under data protection legislation, which could include the following:
- Advising and assisting with the completion of DPIAs and Privacy Notices
- Advising on risk and the containment actions needed for breaches
- Advising on compliance requirements for third‑party data processors
About You
Ideally, we are looking for individuals who have a background in data protection. As you will be working with external clients as council officers and services you will need to have excellent customer relationship skills as well an organised and disciplined approach. The role is rewarding, and you will be working with a high performing team who continue to provide excellence in service delivery. We offer a supportive flexible work/life balance, including working at home with the latest technology. Our main offices are the award-winning, modern Civic Centre in Keynsham, halfway between Bath and Bristol, easily accessible via car or public transport, with a train station 10 minutes’ walk away. There are also opportunities to be based at our other council offices in Bath and in Midsomer Norton, as well as one of our client’s bases in Weston‑super‑Mare.
