At Bath & North East Somerset Council we have one overriding purpose – to improve people’s lives. Are you a confident and compassionate communicator with a strong eye for detail and a passion for helping people access the right support? Bath & North East Somerset Council’s Skills Connect team is seeking a Triage and Admin Officer to act as the first point of contact for residents seeking employment, skills, and career support.
In this role, you will triage incoming referrals and respond to phone and email enquiries, often from individuals who are vulnerable, anxious, or facing barriers to employment or career progression. You will sensitively assess needs and signpost or allocate individuals to the most appropriate support within the team or through partner organisations.
Alongside the frontline triage function, the role includes a strong administrative and project support element. You will be responsible for logging calls, managing your own diary and correspondence, and maintaining accurate and up-to-date records. This includes creating and maintaining spreadsheets, processing purchases and payments (including credit card transactions), reconciling expenditure, and supporting accurate financial and project reporting.
Attention to detail, confidence using IT systems (including Excel), and the ability to manage sensitive information securely are essential. You will work closely with colleagues across the council and with external partners to support service delivery, monitor progress, and help ensure projects run smoothly. The role requires excellent organisational skills, the ability to prioritise a varied workload, and flexibility to respond to changing demands.
