At Bath & North East Somerset Council we have one overriding purpose – to improve people’s lives. This post attracts a welcome payment of 5% of the starting salary for the grade to enable individuals to join our permanent workforce. This is payable upon successful completion of your probationary period and is subject to eligibility criteria.
Enhanced Pay Opportunities
We provide additional pay enhancements for all roles, applicable to shifts worked during weekends, nights, and bank holidays.
About the Role
We are looking for Extra Care Care Assistants to be based in one of our Extra Care Services at Hawthorn Court. There are two roles available:
- 21 hours per week and involves a rota system which will involve working from 08:00-14:30
- 21.87 hours per week and involves a rota system which will involve working morning and late shifts from 07:30-14:00 and 14:30-21:30
Please specify on your application which role you are interested in applying for. For both roles you also will be working every other weekend with some bank holidays for which enhancements are paid. The Hawthorn Court offers a vibrant community atmosphere which is in Keynsham, and this is easily accessible via public transport or car.
What is Extra Care?
Extra Care Housing is for adults, who have some care needs, with an assured tenancy in a self-contained flat in a purpose-built or adapted scheme. Our Extra care housing services have been rated ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in June 2022.
As an Extra Care Support Worker, you will:
- Assist tenants with personal care activities such as washing, personal hygiene and dressing.
- Promote tenant’s independence, choice, dignity, and respect by delivering the best standards of care.
- Adhere to and complete accurate and timely records of the care and support provided to tenants.
- Provide support to access third party and NHS services.
- Be a strong team player and work on own initiative when needed.
- Promote lifestyle choice, offering individuals the opportunity and motivation to retain independence and stay in control of their lives.
About You
Previous experience of working in care would be an advantage, but a commitment to deliver quality care is essential and full training will be provided. This opportunity is ideal for an individual aiming to develop their career and gain hands-on experience in a thriving and friendly workplace.
