Hours: 11 hours per week (Tuesday half day and Thursday 8.30am - 5.00pm), 52 weeks per year.

Salary (Full-Time Equivalent):

  • Unqualified Lecturer Salary: P25-P27 (£30,348.15 - £32,186.70)
  • Qualified Lecturer Salary (L5 and above): P27-P35 (£32,186.70 - £40,015.50)

About the Role

We are seeking a Lecturer in Hair and Media Makeup to plan, deliver and evaluate creative, innovative teaching and learning for students studying Levels 1-3 programmes. The successful candidate will act as a Course/Subject Leader where required and contribute to the planning and effective delivery of the curriculum within the department.

The role also involves ensuring compliance with Health and Safety policies and procedures, supporting student recruitment, enrolment and induction activities, and contributing to the overall success of the department.

Additional specialist skills that would be advantageous include:

  • Wig knotting and weft weaving
  • Dressing and maintaining a range of hairpiece structures
  • Prosthetic design, creation and casting for both small and large pieces
  • Bald cap preparation and application

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment in line with awarding body and examination requirements.
  • Teach, assess and internally verify across a range of Hair and Media Makeup programmes, using a variety of teaching methods, including online delivery.
  • Deliver both core and additional departmental programmes.
  • Produce schemes of work, lesson plans, assessment plans, learning materials and associated resources to support effective learning.
  • Coordinate and maintain records of formative and summative student assessments undertaken by the course team.
  • Communicate examination entry requirements and timetable arrangements to both students and colleagues.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

Essential requirements include:

  • Level 3 Hair, Beauty or Makeup qualification
  • Minimum of five years' industry/salon experience
  • Teaching qualification, or willingness to work towards one
  • TAQA, A1 Assessor Award, or equivalent
