We are looking to register new Shared Lives carer households in B&NES. Shared Lives is a service where the carer uses their own home and daily life to provide support to people who have eligible needs.
We have a need for households with one or more people who can use BSL to a level 3 standard or above. This could be for:
- day support (£18.50 per hour)
- respite stays (£205 per stay)
- full-time (£825 per week, plus housing contribution and food & bills payment)
People with support needs are individually matched to households and the carer has the final say on whether or not they support a person. As well as being a BSL user, the person supported may have needs such as autism or a learning disability.
The scheme offers full training in care and support, the support of a dedicated coordinator and a detailed matching process with potential clients.
There are significant tax incentives available for Shared Lives households, £20,440 per household per year PLUS £515 per person supported per week (up to a maximum of 3 people) income tax-free. Shared Lives carers are self-employed and are responsible for their own tax arrangements.
There are several different options for providing support. This role can work around childcare, having another job or as an additional household income.
