The Business Process & Systems Analyst is a pivotal, autonomous role within the IT department, responsible for bridging the gap between the business and technology. The role is responsible for driving end-to-end requirements discovery, analysis, documentation, and delivery while also acting as Product Owner / Product Specialist for new and evolving technology products introduced to the firm. The role will be central to the replacement and modernisation of core business applications, proactively identifying opportunities for process improvement, optimisation, and innovation across the firm. The Business Process and Systems Analyst will engage with stakeholders at all levels, from fee earners and business services to senior leadership, ensuring technology solutions deliver measurable business value.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with legal and business teams to analyse workflows and identify opportunities for better use of existing tools, AI, emerging technologies, automation, and digital innovation.
- Operate with high autonomy, managing competing priorities and delivering outcomes with minimal supervision.
- Produce clear, high-quality artefacts, including business/functional requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, use cases, process maps, and workflow diagrams.
- Support the identification, selection, and suitability assessment of emerging technology to meet business requirements.
- Play a key role in delivering new system(s) from selection through inception, project delivery, and ongoing change management, working closely with the Technical Project Manager.
- Support proof-of-concepts and pilots, including defining success criteria and tracking performance.
- Act as the "face of IT," facilitating workshops, interviews, and sessions to elicit business, functional, and non-functional requirements.
- Build strong, trusted relationships with stakeholders across all levels of the firm, requiring excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Stay informed on legal technology trends, AI developments, and regulatory changes.
- Act as Product Owner / Product Specialist for new and existing applications.
- Proactively identify opportunities for system and process enhancements, automation, and optimisation.
- Take ownership of Business Analyst workstreams for IT projects, ensuring best practice and close collaboration with the Technical Project Manager.
- Form part of the project team selecting and implementing new system(s), taking the lead where appropriate.
- Be technically aware and assist with selecting and implementing emerging technologies and applications to achieve efficiencies.
- Help shape and implement new ways of working and deliver continuous improvement with the IT Training and Engagement Manager and Technical Project Manager.
- Continuously identify and deliver business process improvements across the firm’s functions.
About You
- Previous experience working in a business analysis/projects role is essential.
- Experience of working in a professional services environment would be beneficial.
- Knowledge of legal IT systems is beneficial.
- You are passionate about business improvement and want to streamline workflows and deliver efficiencies.
- You enjoy problem-solving and can analyse all elements of a process, apply logic, and suggest alternative solutions.
