Due to continual growth, our client is looking for an experienced CAD Design Engineer to join their successful and expanding team. The company supplies new machine builds, modifications, refurbishments, and responds to breakdown repairs. We specialise in supplying the food industry but also supply other industries in meeting their engineering requirements.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Take ownership of and manage the design process liaising with customers, suppliers and third party contractors as required.
- Produce detailed and accurate design drawings using AutoDesk Inventor and Vault.
- Create NC programs using InventorCAM.
- Ensure drawings and designs meet the brief, are fit for purpose and meet quality expectations.
- Provide technical expertise in team meetings.
- Develop and manage a CAD design apprentice, providing coaching, training and feedback and ensuring they undertake a workload which meets the need of their programme.
- Ensure best value in design to meet and increase the profitability of the project.
- Understand, manage and minimise health and safety design risk through Risk Assessments ensuring relevant legislative and regulatory standards are met.
- Establish, implement and maintain the design and development process in line with the standards set out in ISO: 9001.
- Ensure design is compliant with relevant legislation and customer requirements.
- Communicate design and liaise with engineers to ensure information is interpreted accurately.
- Provide cover for the site supervisor in their absence, including costing jobs, liaising with suppliers and customers and staff management.

Knowledge and experience:
- Background in mechanical engineering is preferable and experience in the food industry would be advantageous.
- Excellent working knowledge and relevant experience of AutoDesk and InventorCAM.
- Proven track record in design.
- Knowledge of job costings, materials/engineering methods.
