We are seeking a passionate, resilient and skilled Teaching Assistant to join our specialist team at a dynamic SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) school. The successful candidate will primarily support students in Music, while also offering broader in-class support across subjects when required. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people who need it most.
Key Responsibilities
- To support admin duties within the music department
- Ensure instruments are maintained and prepared for lessons
- To provide one to one support when required and to ensure that appropriate work is organised and available
- To attend to students’ personal learning needs, their social, health and welfare matters
- To assist the Music Teacher with setting up and packing away instruments and equipment for lessons
- To support students during music compositions or instrument practice
- To implement specialist knowledge and/or experience to support students’ learning. Knowledge of a musical instrument skill is highly desirable
Key Skills & Experience
- Previous experience working with students with SEMH, SEN, or in a school setting is desirable
- A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable students and helping them succeed
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents
- Patience, empathy, and resilience in challenging situations
- Ability to work as part of a team, collaborating with teachers, SENCO, and support staff
- A positive and flexible approach to working with young people
