Thompsons of York is seeking a reliable and proactive Weighbridge and Warehouse Operative to join our team at the animal feed mill in Murton, York. The successful candidate will work across weighbridge, intake, and warehouse operations, ensuring efficient movement of raw materials and finished products, accurate record-keeping, and safe handling of stock.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate the weighbridge, accurately recording vehicle weights and maintaining records.
- Manage vehicle movements on and off site in line with site procedures.
- Liaise with drivers, contractors, and internal teams to ensure smooth intake and dispatch.
- Carry out sampling and intake checks on incoming raw materials.
- Safely load, unload, move, and store raw materials and finished feed products.
- Operate forklift trucks and other material handling equipment in line with safety standards.
- Maintain accurate stock control, assisting with stocktaking and cycle counts.
- Prepare and check orders for dispatch, ensuring accuracy and quality.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation within the warehouse and yard.
- Comply with all Health & Safety, Food Safety, and Quality Assurance procedures.
- Report any defects, hazards, or non-conformances promptly.
- Support colleagues across departments as required.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and efficiency within the mill.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in warehousing, weighbridge, or intake operations (preferred but not essential).
- Valid Forklift Truck Licence (counterbalance or equivalent).
- Good attention to detail and accurate record-keeping skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong awareness of Health & Safety and site procedures.
- Flexible and reliable approach to working hours.
