British American Tobacco has an exciting opportunity for a Trade Strategy Manager in London, UK.
The Trade Strategy Manager is a key architect in the development and implementation of trade strategies across all trade channels. This role involves creating comprehensive strategies, encompassing Category Strategy & Vision, Channel & Customer Strategies, and Route To Market strategies. The Trade Strategy Manager ensures seamless communication, understanding, and integration of these strategies across relevant teams within a cross-functional environment.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
Trade Strategy Development

  • Lead the creation of holistic Category Strategy & Vision to guide product and market positioning. Evaluate and refine quarterly.
  • Develop Channel and Customer Strategies that optimize engagement and drive growth in diverse markets.
  • Formulate effective Route To Market strategies to ensure efficient product distribution and market access.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Sales, Supply Chain, and Trade Marketing, to gather insights and align strategies with overall business objectives.
  • Ensure representation and input from all relevant trade departments during the strategy development process.
  • Collaborate closely with the Trade Insights team – which will feed into both strategy and planning teams
  • Business Case / new launches – Trade strategy development to ensure best mix of execution to achieve max revenue. Ensure the strategy is incorporated into all trade channel plans

Communication and Alignment

  • Effectively communicate trade strategies to all relevant teams, fostering a clear understanding of objectives, priorities, and anticipated outcomes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure strategies are seamlessly incorporated into their respective plans.

Inclusive Development Process

  • Facilitate cross-functional workshops and strategy sessions involving representatives from various trade departments to ensure inclusivity in the strategy development process.
  • Encourage a collaborative and innovative environment that leverages the expertise of different trade functions.

Market Analysis and Research

  • Conduct thorough market analysis and research to identify opportunities, threats, and emerging trends impacting trade channels.
  • Integrate market intelligence into the strategy development process for informed decision-making.

Strategic Implementation Support

  • Provide ongoing support to teams during the implementation of trade strategies, addressing challenges and ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Collaborate with regional and local teams to customize strategies to fit specific market dynamics.

Performance Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure the success and impact of trade strategies.
  • Conduct regular evaluations to assess the performance of implemented strategies and make data-driven adjustments.

Training and Development

  • Conduct training sessions to enhance the understanding of trade strategies among team members.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and skill development within the trade strategy domain.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Thoroughly document trade strategies for reference, analysis, and future improvements.
  • Provide regular and ad-hoc reports to leadership on the progress and impact of implemented strategies.

What Are We Looking For

  • 3-5 years of experience in trade marketing, category management, or related field
  • Proven track record of successfully developing and implementing trade strategies
  • Strong understanding of trade channels and demonstrated cross-functional collaboration experience
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate insights into actionable trade strategies
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams
