Key Objectives
- Category strategy development, refinement and refresh – providing a three-year outlook
- Innovation, industry trends and compliance reporting (incl. commercial risk management and contractual pipeline)
- Developing supplier‑led innovation platforms to support the longer‑term Horizon 3 needs (5 years and beyond)
- Manage innovation discovery and evaluation with the focus on supplier sourcing selection, commercial excellence, IP and compliance from conception to POP stage for categories
- Strong collaboration with wider global BAT teams to deliver sourcing objectives
- Key partner‑supplier relationship management
- Peer group and external market network map build
- Drive innovation for the business by supporting and enhancing BAT initiatives
- ESG underpinning strategic and innovation decisions
Role Duties and Accountabilities
- Define global sourcing strategies for the category to achieve the business objectives for the next three years
- Lead global and geographic contract management to deliver robust terms with lowest commercial risk and maximum value
- Build strong supplier relationships and manage supplier‑pool selection within the category and sourcing strategies
- Drive innovation pipeline by collaborating with internal collaborators and external inputs (including platforming)
- Deliver Delta‑Tech management across categories providing structure and focused outputs
- Transform procurement to be fit for the future, including the adoption of AI, digital tools and innovation processes
- Adhere to BAT policies, procedures and behavioural standards (SoBC)
- Expert in communicating CoE category strategies to internal collaborators at all levels
- Challenge and where applicable disrupt traditional procurement methods and processes to foster new technology benefits such as AI and data‑driven decisions
- Leverage supplier knowledge and technology to create competitive advantage
- Manage EE Tech blocks including contract adherence from RDAs, NDAs, project briefs and SoWs, tracking progress and spend to ensure expectations are met
- Work with a wide cross‑functional team to meet regulatory requirements including supplier obligations
- Define strategy on strategic electronic components across categories, working with R&D across EE technologies
- Ensure ESG supplier commitments are aligned with BAT global targets
Experience
- Detailed knowledge of supply market, supplier capabilities and competitor activity, and expected trends at a geographic and global level
- In‑depth category knowledge and proven ability to apply supplier‑management techniques
- Expertise in successful development of complex, multi‑country sourcing contracts and agreements
- Full understanding of the category total acquisition cost model, cost drivers and market influences
- Experience managing complex global and area programmes to improve performance and deliver value
- Sound knowledge of applicable regulations and legislation to ensure effective Group contracts
- Experience managing large‑scale, cross‑functional projects to improve performance and deliver KPIs
Skills
- Knowledge of the category, including the external marketplace, key drivers and levers, supply base and balance of power, supplier capabilities and market trends
- Ability to be a technological leader with insights, curiosity, challenge and a commitment to positive outcomes
- Strong stakeholder‑management skills, including interpersonal and communication skills at all levels
- Expertise in negotiation and influencing skills able to influence business partners and suppliers

Education and Certifications
- Degree level or equivalent education in a relevant area
- CIPS Corporate Diploma in Purchasing and/or membership of The Chartered Institute for Purchasing and Supply or equivalent country qualification or membership would be an advantage
