British American Tobacco United Kingdom has an exciting opportunity for an Investment Manager, Btomorrow Ventures in London
We are seeking an ambitious and motivated Investment Manager to join our dynamic Btomorrow Ventures (BTV) team at our London headquarters (Globe House).
As a key member of our investment team, you will be responsible for managing the deal process from start to finish, including sourcing new prospects, running introduction meetings, conducting in-depth financial/technical/strategic analysis, and presenting the prospects to the Investment Committee.
- Your Key Responsibilities Will Include
- Establish position as the "go-to" investments lead within the respective area coverage (e. g.
Saa S B2B) both internally (within corporate business units) and externally (within investment/start-up community)
- Structuring, negotiating and executing deals (including commercial, financial) in line with BTV's £200m Fund II mandate, with an oversight over legal and technical due diligence.
- Developing strategic investment cases to be presented to the Investment Committee (IC).
- Conducting due diligence (DD) on potential investments and partnerships.
- Build/oversee financial models and use financial valuation methodologies to assess company valuation, funding requirements, and structures for potential investments.
- Building a strong start-up network and scanning the market to create a pipeline of investment opportunities in BTV's defined investment areas.
- Monitoring portfolio development against key performance indicators, ensuring wider BTV team are kept up-to-speed with developments and that there are no surprises.
- Use data and insights to provide value-added help to portfolio companies, identifying areas for growth and improvement.
- Partner with the portfolio management team to secure strategic partnerships with BAT functions, as well as successful exit opportunities.
- Contribute to the development and execution of fund's investment strategy as well as portfolio development strategy & management.
- Lead origination activities, including conducting market research and attending industry events to build relationships across the start-up ecosystem and pipeline for investment opportunities.
- Create presentation materials for prospects and portfolio companies.
- Mentor and develop junior investment professionals.
- Represent BTV on the Boards of select companies.
- Build and champion a high-performance team, encouraging a culture of innovation, collaboration and pace.

What are we looking for?
- Strong financial modelling skills and fluency in the end-to-end investment process.
- Demonstrated interest in working with start-ups.
- Preferred experience within technologies including Enterprise Saa S, supply chain and logistics technologies, blockchain, automation & robotics and sustainability.
- Strong understanding of the VC process and key terms used in the negotiation and structuring of transactions.
- Initiative-taking, proactive, and eager to take on new challenges.
- An analytical mindset with a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to think critically and to perform in a fast-paced environment and deliver under pressure/timelines.
- Building partnerships ability to build networks and a strong rapport quickly, both within the corporate and start-up setting.
- Portfolio engagement establish and maintain strong relationships with the portfolio companies to ensure that BTV is adding value as an investor.
- Demonstrated ability to act as an owner and adopt a growth mindset.
- Proven track record of strong leadership and people management. Enjoys developing others.
- Highly collaborative and contributes to effective teamwork and culture within BTV.
- Bachelor's degree is highly preferred.
