British American Tobacco United Kingdom has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Controls Manager in Southampton
This role is part of the BAT Exports – Finance Team, a large BAT Trading Company. The key purpose of this role is to assist in managing the risk and control environment and to act as the single point of contact (SPOC) for managing issues in the business that require support from Global shared services.
Your Key Responsibilities Will Include
- Support the execution of the Control Navigator and the Risk Management process.
- Support the operation, compliance, and effectiveness of BAT Exports’ SOX controls by assisting with control activities, monitoring, and documentation in line with SOX requirements.
- Collaborate with the Business Controls Team (BCT) and external Auditors on control-related updates, initiatives and provide accurate and timely information.
- Monitor Segregation of Duties (SoD) issues, oversee Accounts Payable (MDM controls), to ensure governance and data accuracy.
- Maintain the Business Continuity Plan (BCP) and manage the SLA with Global Shared Services to align processes with internal requirements.
- Manage and coordinate master data change requests, support the implementation of Purchase Orders (PO) approval routes, and respond to ad hoc requirements, ensuring data accuracy, compliance, and timely support to key stakeholders.
What are we looking for?
- Degree-educated and part-qualified accountant (CA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or MBA) with proven experience in control management and SOx compliance.
- Strong knowledge of finance tools and systems, including SAP and Power BI.
- Demonstrated ability to simplify complex issues and communicate effectively across all levels.
- Builds strong internal networks and collaborates well with cross-functional and external stakeholders.
- Promotes a culture of service excellence, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
- Proactive, adaptable, and comfortable working in ambiguity with a consultative, business-oriented mindset.
