What you’ll do:
- The Food Service Host completes assigned functions within the department, providing excellent customer service, operating and maintaining dietary food equipment.
- Through constant interactions with customers, physicians, nursing, and visitors, provide efficient, courteous, and accurate service.
- Perform a variety of routine duties in the sanitation area of the Food Service Department.
- Promote meal assistance to all patients on a daily basis, including meal selection, service, and retrieval.
- Accurately serve food and beverage to patients in accordance with the patient’s diet prescription.
- Verbally communicate patient concerns with the clinical dietitian, such as education needs and inadequate meal consumption.
- Competently use dietary software for patient diet information, ordering, and ticketing.
- Adhere to all cash handling guidelines.
- Perform a variety of customer, food, and sanitation-related activities, troubleshooting as necessary.
- Develop and maintain excellent communication skills with patients, customers, and coworkers.
- Respond to patient and customer issues and concerns in a timely manner.
- Visit all patients on assigned floors for menu selections.
- Deliver trays and obtain menu selections tactfully and with concern for patient well-being.
- Assess the needs of the customer and deliver products to meet these needs.
- Record food temperatures during meal hours and take action when temperatures are not to standards.
- Maintain accurate cash drawers.
- Maintain personal hygiene, including proper uniform according to department standards.
- Complete all daily washing and sanitizing tasks.
- Maintain a safe and clean work area.
- Perform all assigned daily and monthly cleaning tasks.
- Complete weekly cleaning lists.
- Respect and use equipment appropriately.
- Train new employees in the correct manner of workflows.
- Clean and stock immediate work area before leaving at the end of the shift.
- Control food and paper waste and use resources efficiently.
- Maintain and check floor par stocks on assigned floors.
- Ensure excellent customer service.
- Present a professional courteous manner when dealing with patients, physicians, visitors, and staff.
- Greet each patient and customer with a smile and a helpful demeanor.
- Resolve customer complaints in a polite manner.
- Treat co-workers with respect and allow for different work styles and viewpoints.
- Participate in department Practice Council.
- Perform similar or related duties as requested or directed.
What we need from you:
Education/Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred.
Experience: Previous Food Service experience, preferred.
Skills: Communication, Building Relationships, Listening, Computer Skills, Attention to Detail.
Physical Requirements: Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. Occasional balancing, climbing, crouching, grasping, hearing, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, stooping, tactical sense, visual acuity, fit testing. Constant typing/clerical/dexterity, seeing/monitor/computer use, talking, standing, walking.
Hazards: Occasional bodily fluids/bloodborne exposure, burns, chemical.
Working conditions: Occasional noise, wet and/or humid, odors.
Travel: The job may require travel from time-to-time, but not on a regular basis.

Pay Range: Salary is based on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.
