We're looking for an outstanding Development Management Team Leader to join our Planning Service and play a key role in delivering high-quality planning outcomes across the district.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead a talented team of Planning Officers, work on a diverse range of planning applications and contribute to the sustainable growth and regeneration of Bassetlaw.

About the Role
Reporting to the Planning Development Manager, you will lead a team of Planning Officers and play a key role in delivering an efficient, high-quality Development Management service.
You will:
- Lead the day-to-day operation of the Development Management team.
- Allocate and oversee work, ensuring quality decisions and performance standards are achieved.
- Act as the Council's lead officer at Planning Committee, appeals and inquiries.
- Assess complex planning applications and support planning enforcement activity.
- Drive service improvement, customer satisfaction and income generation opportunities.
- Help shape the future direction and success of the Planning Service.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to combine technical expertise, people leadership and service improvement within an ambitious and forward-looking Planning Service.
What We're Looking For
We're seeking an experienced planning professional who can combine strong technical expertise with effective team leadership.
You will have:
- Significant experience within Development Management.
- A sound knowledge of planning legislation, policy and practice.
- Experience of managing complex planning applications and presenting to Planning Committee.
- Strong communication, decision-making and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to lead, motivate and develop a high-performing team.
- A commitment to delivering excellent customer service and continuous improvement.
Most importantly, you will be passionate about planning, enjoy developing others, and be motivated to help shape the future growth and prosperity of Bassetlaw
