Quality Control Inspector
Department: Housing Repairs & Maintenance
Salary: Grade 6, £34,811–£37,563 pro rata
Hours: Part time, 18.5 hours per week
Working pattern: Mondays, Tuesdays and alternate Wednesdays
About the Role
We are looking for a self-motivated individual to play a key role in the Council’s Housing service. In this role, you will survey and assess a range of repair issues in customers’ homes, including general building works, damp, condensation and mould, and repairs linked to current and forthcoming Awaab’s law. You will oversee repair cases from inspection and diagnosis through to completion. Responsibilities include preparing work schedules and specifications, raising orders, monitoring progress, ensuring remedial work meets safety, housing-standard and timescale requirements, and conducting post-completion inspections. You will also support the management of all current Awaab’s repairs and help prepare for upcoming repair requirements, ensuring cases are prioritised, tracked and progressed within Awaab’s law timescales.
What We Are Looking For
- Experience of working in a reactive maintenance environment.
- Knowledge of housing and property regulations and legislation.
- The ability to act with integrity, accountability and sound judgement.
- An innovative approach that supports continuous service improvement.
- Excellent customer care skills, with a clear commitment to putting customers at the centre of your work.
