Join our team! Are you ready to thrive in a fast-paced medical environment where multitasking and attention to detail are essential? Our well-established gastroenterology practice in the East Bay is looking for a Patient Care Coordinator to support one of our five physicians and help deliver exceptional care to our patients.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare patient charts and maintain accurate records with proper documentation
  • Verify insurance and coordinate prior authorizations
  • Manage high-volume calls, emails, and faxes
  • Schedule procedures and coordinate with outside surgical centers
  • Monitor, upload, and communicate patient results in Epic EHR
  • Handle co-pay and past-due collections
  • Provide occasional front desk or call center coverage
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
  • Occasional overtime may be required

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum 2 years healthcare experience
  • Experience with Epic Systems EHR required; gastroenterology experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of medical insurance processes, including PPOs, HMOs, and Medicare
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, compliance, and medical terminology
  • Ability to travel between Berkeley (primary) and Walnut Creek offices
  • Reliable transportation and punctuality required
  • Professionalism & Work Ethic – Reliable, dedicated, and able to take initiative in a busy environment
  • Communication Skills – Strong verbal and written communication, proficiency in English, and excellent phone etiquette
  • Customer Service – Patient-focused approach, ensuring a personalized and professional experience for every patient
  • Multitasking & Problem-Solving – Able to prioritize tasks efficiently, adapt quickly, and handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously
  • Interpersonal Skills – Friendly, tactful, and team-oriented, fostering positive relationships with colleagues and leadership
  • Technical Proficiency – Strong computer skills, including the ability to perform quick calculations and maintain accurate records
