About Us
At Basis, weâre not just building a company â weâre building the future. Weâre redesigning the electrical systems that power our homes to fight climate change, reduce household costs, and create a better future for generations to come. That means rethinking everything, not just what we build, but how we build it. To do this, we need incredible people. People who are bold, creative, sharp, and thoughtful. People who care. People who move fast and think differently. Thatâs where you come in.
The Role
In this exciting, newly created role, youâll build and scale how Basis partners with the Sparky (electrician) community. That means everything from training and onboarding new Sparkies, to jumping on-site to make sure first installs run smoothly, to partnering with wholesalers to uncover new opportunities. Youâll also collaborate with our wider team when customer issues might need extra support or investigation. Through it all, youâll grow adoption and lift Basisâ presence in the Sparky community. As a trusted advisor, youâll be the person Sparkies turn to â answering questions big and small â and youâll equip them with the tools to grow their customer base with Basis.
Some of the things that you might be involved in include:
- Actively follow up Sparky leads, quotes, and training graduates to drive first installs.
- Manage a clear pipeline of Sparkies; nurturing their journey with Basis from new-to the-product to repeat installs and everything in between.
- Be present on-site with Sparkies during installs to solve issues in real time.
- Gather structured feedback (NPS, issues, objections) and feed this into sales, product, and ops.
- Build âchampion Sparkiesâ who mentor others and act as advocates.
- Build strong relationships with our wholesale partners to identify Sparky interest in stock/pricing.
- Ensure Sparkies can confidently use sales tools (ROI calculators, brochures, Home App demo mode).
- Support Basis training cohorts with ongoing engagement.
- Support with customer field issues, liaising with the relevant Sparky to understand and identify the root cause.
This is ideal for someone whoâs worked as an electrician and wants to move off the tools into a more people-focused role. Itâs the first role of its kind at Basis, so thereâs real scope to make your mark and grow with us â whether thatâs further in sales or into a more technical path down the track. Please note; This role services the whole of Aotearoa New Zealand and involves regular travel. We plan travel in advance where possible, but there will be times when you need to be reactive to support installs.
About You
We think youâll be a fit for this role if you have the following skills/traits:
- Trade-qualified electrician background. Current practising licence preferred (weâre open to candidates who can renew).
- A full driverâs licence and vehicle (car allowance provided).
- Experience in sales, business development, or trade enablement (ideally electrical, solar, or smart-tech) is a plus, but weâll also consider motivated candidates with the right drive to learn.
- A reputation for being trustworthy, driven, and solution-oriented â someone Sparkies want to talk to.
- A natural ability to connect with a wide range of personalities â from handsâon sparkies to wholesalers and developers.
- The energy and curiosity to be constantly learning and feeding insights back into the business.
- Followâthrough: you do what you say youâll do, own your mistakes, and improve the playbook.
- Tenacity and a positive, customerâfirst attitude in challenging situations.
Research shows that while men apply for jobs when they meet ~ 60% of the job criteria, women and other marginalised groups tend to apply only when they check every box. So if you think you have what it takes, but are not sure you check every box, we still want to hear from you đ
Benefits
- A competitive salary and employee share scheme (ESOP).
- Unlimited annual leave so that you can take the time that you need to reâenergise.
- Tools of trade, including laptop, and car allowance.
- Flexible hours â we focus on outcomes, so adjust your day around whÄnau, hobbies, or other commitments.
- A schedule of fun team events throughout the year (Lego Battlebots, table tennis, themed Friday drinks, and more!).
- Office dogs + steady supply of fresh fruit and snacks in the office.
- Access to Clearhead, our wellâbeing programme which gives you 5x free sessions with a psychologist per year.
- A commitment to diversity and inclusion: Pride Committee, Pride Pledge partner, DEIB Committee, EEO Policy and wellâbeing initiatives.
- Parental leave policy that tops up wages to 100% for the primary caregiver for up to 22 weeks and up to 6 weeks for secondary caregivers (conditions apply).
- The opportunity to learn and develop from some of the best and brightest minds in the industry!
