We’re looking for a Quantitative Research Director (Ad Hoc or Tracking) to help lead our ambitious, friendly and fast-growing London quant team. This is a senior role for someone who already operates at, or is ready to step up to, Director level – and who wants real ownership of clients, methods and people. You’ll set the standard for the quantitative work we deliver across our tracking projects, acting as a trusted strategic partner to some of the world's most exciting brands. We work with the likes of Google, Samsung, Meta, Tesco, Ray-Ban, DAZN, BBC, Pernod Ricard and Cancer Research UK, across sectors and across more than 60 markets - from segmentation to conjoint, pricing, U&A and fully integrated qual-quant studies. We want someone who can make an immediate impact: shape research that genuinely changes client decisions, grow accounts, raise the bar on our methods, and bring on the next generation of researchers behind you.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Lead complex tracking programmes end-to-end – own the design and delivery of multi-market quantitative studies, from proposal and research design through questionnaire and sampling, fieldwork oversight, analysis and the final story.
  • Be a strategic partner to clients – go beyond the data to deliver sharp, commercial recommendations that clients act on, with the consultative presence of a senior advisor.
  • Own and grow accounts – lead proposals and pitches, respond to briefs and RFPs, spot organic growth opportunities and contribute to new business.
  • Bring methodological authority – advise on design, sampling, weighting and advanced analytics (key driver analysis, segmentation, choice modelling/conjoint, MaxDiff, pricing techniques, forecasting), and raise quant standards across the team.
  • Champion new ways of working – help drive our AI-enabled research and big-data / “Ideas” capabilities, and our “Researcher + AI” approach to tracking and discovery.
  • Develop the team – line-manage, mentor and coach researchers, sharing responsibility for their growth and helping them progress.
  • Own the commercials – take responsibility for project financials and the commercial performance of your portfolio.
  • Represent Basis externally – contribute to thought leadership, content and industry moments (such as the MRS conference) that build our profile.

What we’re looking for:

  • Significant quantitative market research experience (typically 8+ years), much of it agency-side, with a strong track record of leading projects end-to-end.
  • Deep command of a broad range of quant methodologies and analysis techniques – and the confidence to apply them day to day.
  • Excellent client management and consultative skills, with the gravitas to be a trusted senior advisor.
  • Commercial acumen – proposals, pricing, project financials and account growth.
  • Proven people leadership – a genuine desire to develop, inspire and grow more junior members of the team.
  • Outstanding analysis and storytelling – turning numbers into clear, well-designed, decision-ready outputs.
  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent project management across multiple concurrent workstreams.
  • Comfort with research and analytics tools (e.g. Q, SPSS, survey and dashboarding platforms) and an appetite for AI-enabled ways of working.
  • A relevant degree (e.g. marketing, economics, statistics, social sciences, psychology) is helpful but not essential – it’s your experience and thinking that matter most.

In return:

We’ll give you real autonomy and ownership, a clear path to senior leadership, and the chance to build strong, lasting client relationships. It’s a fun culture where everyone wants to deliver great quality work – and there are lots of additional benefits too. We also have an in-house Ops team who take care of link, table and report checking, plus a support team for other basic tasks – so you and your team can stay focused on the thinking and the work we deliver to clients.

Don’t meet every single requirement? At Basis we’re dedicated to building a diverse and inclusive workplace, so if you’re excited about joining us but your past experience doesn’t 100% align with the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right candidate we’re looking for.

About us:

We are Basis Global – the independent insight consultancy that digs deeper, challenges assumptions and turns uncertainty into commercial advantage. A few things that make us, us:

  • We make our own rules – we’re an independent insight consultancy, which means we don’t answer to scary shareholders. We do things our way (including promoting people when we see fit, not in a fixed window each year).
  • We’re global – with offices across the UK and US and work spanning 60+ markets, we’ve built a diverse, international client base across consumer, B2B and health.
  • We blend methods and technology – quant and qual primary research, behavioural science, semiotics, big data and AI (our “Ideas” practice), and a creative design Studio that brings insight to life.
  • We’re growing – we’re ambitious and we grow consistently, which brings benefits both culturally and in the opportunities it creates for our team.
  • We offer rapid career progression – we’re big believers in setting goals and helping people achieve them at a pace that suits them.
  • We love our people – our team is our main asset, and we work hard to make Basis a genuinely good place to be, day in, day out.
  • We’re flexible – our team balances time in our Central London office (which we love, balconies and all) with remote working.

Equal opportunities:

Basis is committed to ensuring its employees are treated fairly regardless of race, gender, ability, religion, sexual orientation or age. As part of your application we may ask you to complete a short, optional equal opportunities form. You don’t have to complete it, but it helps us on our mission to be a diverse, representative and fair workplace. All information collected on equality and diversity is treated confidentially in line with data protection law. Access is restricted to staff involved in processing and monitoring this data, and it is used to provide statistical information only.
