We’re looking for a Quantitative Research Director to help lead our ambitious, friendly and fast-growing London quant team. You’ll set the standard for the quantitative work we deliver across our tracking projects, acting as a trusted strategic partner to some of our exciting clients. We work with many leading brands including Beats, Primark, Tesco, TJX, Visa and John Lewis to name a few, and you'll have the opportunity to become a true expert in their performance — spotting trends, uncovering shifts in consumer behaviour, and turning continuous data into the strategic stories that shape big decisions.

We want someone who can make an immediate impact: shape research that genuinely changes client decisions, grow accounts, raise the bar on our methods, and bring on the next generation of researchers behind you.

  • Lead complex tracking programmes end-to-end – own the design and delivery of multi-market quantitative studies, from proposal and research design through questionnaire and sampling, fieldwork oversight, analysis and the final story.
  • Be a strategic partner to clients – go beyond the data to deliver sharp, commercial recommendations that clients act on, with the consultative presence of a senior advisor.
  • Own and grow accounts – lead proposals and pitches, respond to briefs and RFPs, spot organic growth opportunities and contribute to new business.
  • Champion new ways of working – help drive our AI-enabled research and big-data / “Ideas” capabilities, and our “Researcher + AI” approach to tracking and discovery.
  • Develop the team – line-manage, mentor and coach researchers, sharing responsibility for their growth and helping them progress.
  • Own the commercials – take responsibility for project financials and the commercial performance of your portfolio.
  • Represent Basis externally – contribute to thought leadership, content and industry moments (such as the MRS conference) that build our profile.

Significant quantitative market research experience (typically 8+ years), much of it agency-side, with a strong track record of leading projects end-to-end. Deep command of a broad range of quant methodologies and analysis techniques – and the confidence to apply them day to day. Commercial acumen – proposals, pricing, project financials and account growth. Outstanding analysis and storytelling – turning numbers into clear, well-designed, decision-ready outputs. Excellent project management across multiple concurrent workstreams. Comfort with research and analytics tools (e.g. Q, SPSS, survey and dashboarding platforms) and an appetite for AI-enabled ways of working. A relevant degree (e.g. marketing, economics, statistics, social sciences, psychology) is helpful but not essential – it’s your experience and thinking that matter most.

It’s a fun culture where everyone wants to deliver great quality work – and there are lots of additional benefits too. At Basis we’re dedicated to building a diverse and inclusive workplace, so if you’re excited about joining us but your past experience doesn’t 100% align with the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway. We are Basis Global – the independent insight consultancy that digs deeper, challenges assumptions and turns uncertainty into commercial advantage. We make our own rules – we’re an independent insight consultancy, which means we don’t answer to scary shareholders. We blend methods and technology – quant and qual primary research, behavioural science, semiotics, big data and AI (our “Ideas” practice), and a creative design Studio that brings insight to life.

We offer rapid career progression – we’re big believers in setting goals and helping people achieve them at a pace that suits them. We love our people – our team is our main asset, and we work hard to make Basis a genuinely good place to be, day in, day out. We’re flexible – our team balances time in our Central London office (which we love, balconies and all) with remote working.
