We’re looking for a Climate Change Project Officer to join our dynamic Climate Change and Sustainability team to support the ongoing successful delivery of our Climate Change and Air Quality Strategy.
ResponsibilitiesThe role will be responsible for developing and delivering projects that reduce the council’s and borough’s greenhouse emissions, increase awareness of climate change and support adaptation to future impacts of climate change. It requires working with teams throughout the council and external partners, including organisations and community groups across Basingstoke and Deane. This will involve developing innovative initiatives, both independently and collaboratively, with a requirement to co‑ordinate activity among cross‑disciplinary teams or networks. It also likely includes finding and securing external funding for projects and managing and co‑ordinating relevant events and community engagement. Planning, running and evaluating projects, maintaining effective networks for engagement, and working effectively with internal and external contacts is essential.
QualificationsAn ideal candidate will have knowledge of the latest issues and policies around climate change, an ability to work effectively with internal and external contacts, maintain effective networks for engagement and skills in planning, running and evaluating projects.
Employment DetailsThis is a permanent role and sits in the Climate Change and Sustainability team. The post is for 37 hours per week full time from Monday to Friday, however part‑time applications may be considered. This is a hybrid role with a percentage of time working from home and occasional weekend or evening work.
