Tree Officer (Planning)
Trees and woodlands are central to the character of our borough, supporting biodiversity, landscape quality and our Climate Change and Ecological Emergency commitments. This role plays a vital part in ensuring these important assets are properly protected and considered through the planning system.
We are seeking a motivated, knowledgeable and experienced arboricultural professional to join the Environment Team. As part of the Tree Team, you will play a key role in assessing and determining tree work applications, including those relating to Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs) and trees within Conservation Areas.
The role will also involve providing specialist arboricultural advice on planning applications and development proposals, ensuring that trees are appropriately considered and protected within the planning process in accordance with the Town and Country Planning Act.
We are looking for someone with substantial arboricultural experience, ideally within a planning or local authority environment, who can demonstrate strong communication skills, sound professional judgement and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to apply their expertise to make a meaningful impact on the borough’s natural environment while working as part of a supportive and professional team.
For an informal discussion about the post, please contact Aimee Hampton, Principal Tree Officer, on 01256 845174 or by email at Aimee.Hampton@basingstoke.gov.uk.
