Role Overview: Senior Planning Officer – Fixed Term (up to 12 months) in Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council’s Planning Development Team, covering maternity leave.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deal with a caseload of complex planning applications and respond to pre‑application enquiries.
  • Attend committee meetings and manage appeals and complex applications.
  • Provide high‑quality planning advice in a timely manner.
  • Maintain working knowledge of relevant legislation, policy and guidance.
  • Contribute to team performance and manage workload independently.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of two years of Planning Development experience, including appeals expertise.
  • Experience attending committee meetings.
  • Strong organisational, negotiation and communication skills.
  • Good working knowledge of relevant legislation, policy and guidance.
  • Valid full driving licence.

Pay: £46,796 – £50,456 per annum (based on qualifications and experience).

Location & Working Arrangements: Based at the Civic Offices in Basingstoke, reporting to the Assistant Planning Manager. Hybrid working available. Full-time (37 hours per week).
